Pure beef meatballs — 800 g

Biladi pure beef meatballs are made of minced beef and nothing else: the manufacturer states 100% meat, under 20% fat and a collagen-to-meat-protein ratio below 15%. No soya, no breadcrumbs, no seasoning — the meatball is neutral, which leaves the sauce to carry the flavour. They are sold frozen in an 800 g bag, so any quantity can be served.

Sear them in a hot pan over a high heat for a minute, then lower it: three minutes once thawed, eight minutes from frozen. Most shoppers finish them in a tomato sauce with spaghetti or rice, or in a tagine with olives and preserved lemon.
